One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Ken Kesey
Randle Patrick McMurphy, convicted of a minor crime, feigns insanity to serve his sentence in a psychiatric ward rather than prison, where he meets the tyrannical Nurse Ratched and the narrator Chief Bromden. Kesey's novel has been banned and challenged in dozens of American school districts for its language, sexual content, and drug use, and was removed from a Montana high school in 1974.
