The Diary of a Young Girl

Anne Frank

Written while Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis in a secret Amsterdam annex from 1942 to 1944, this diary is one of the most widely read accounts of the Holocaust. The book has been challenged in some US school districts for being too mature or depressing, and a Virginia school district temporarily removed it in 2021 over a passage describing Anne's curiosity about female anatomy.
